FIT FOR PRINT For Words That Work, Recognition You Deserve

Peggy Menaker is the founder and president of Fit For Print LLC.
Leveraging more than 18 years of professional experience as a newspaper copy editor and writer, Peggy helps clients clarify and polish their written words, and/or garner press recognition.
Peggy is adept at improving the quality of what someone else has written, while retaining the author's "voice" and intent.
When it comes to publicity, Peggy knows that being newsworthy is an absolute necessity. She emphasizes that unpaid editorial press coverage is as vital as paid advertising and an online presence, and demonstrates to clients that such unpaid coverage is available to them.
From an experienced editor’s perspective, Peggy understands the building blocks of a
properly formatted and skillfully written press release. While the news industry continues to change, Peggy is able to evaluate when it is, and is not appropriate to develop and submit a press release. She knows what editors want, when they need it, and how information should be submitted for online and print editions.
Following graduation from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Peggy worked in Manhattan as a reporter-editor on the staff of the Daily News Record, a Monday-to-Friday menswear industry trade newspaper owned and printed by Fairchild Publications. After six years at the newspaper, she left to raise her children. During those interim years she kept her writing and editing skills sharp through deep involvement as a volunteer for non-profit organizations.
In 1996, Peggy joined the editorial staff of The Progress, a Recorder Community Newspaper covering six Essex County New Jersey communities. While there, she held the positions of Lifestyles Editor, Sports Editor, and Arts & Entertainment Editor. During her tenure at the paper, the seeds of an idea for a freelance consulting business began to grow. Confident that her plan would succeed, Peggy resigned from The Progress in 2008 to develop and launch her business. She is proud that her clients, as well as their words, are Fit For Print.
Also an accomplished cook and baker, Peggy was a teacher for many years at Kings Super Markets' four New Jersey Cooking Studio locations, and at Sur La Table in Manhasset, NY. Her language skills served her well when it came time to write and edit her class recipes.
Peggy served on the board of the former New York Association of Culinary Professionals and was editor of that organization's newsletter, Food for Thought. She also is the founding editor of Viewpoints, a newsletter of the NCJW Center for Women in Livingston, NJ.
Peggy is a member of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners/Essex, The Association for Women in Communications/Northern New Jersey Professional, and Ladies Who Launch/Central and Northeast New Jersey. Her profile can be found on LinkedIn.
